Kealii Reichel Voted Hawaii's Favorite Entertainer: Wins 2 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.

This year, at the 30th anniversary of the Na Hoku Hanohano awards, Kealii was presented with the "Favorite Entertainer of the Year" award for the fourth time. This award is emblematic of his popularity, as it is the only award decided by a public vote. Kealii, in conjunction with Puakea Nogelmeier and Fred Krauss, also received a technical award in the "Liner Notes" category for the 2006 holiday album, "Maluhia." Kealii isn't only recognized in Hawaii; he received a gold record certification in February for his album, "Kawaipunahele." This is the first gold record ever for a primarily Hawaiian-language album, a feat not heard of before, nor matched since. His music has garnered international attention from around the globe, with his releases consistently appearing on Billboard’s World Music and Heatseeker charts, as well as a Grammy nomination for his CD “Ke`alaokamaile.” He is currently scheduled for tours in Japan and the US West Coast. Kealii has opened for Bonnie Raitt, LeAnn Rimes, Celine Dion and Sting, and has performed in venues from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl. The Punahele label is releasing Kealii’s concert HD-DVD later this year—with details to be released shortly. The DVD will be distributed by the Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) a Warner Music Group company.
