Mutants, Chimeras, Robots And Drum Machines Can Not Replace Human Drummer: The Mad Scientists Announce Newest Band Member
Website: http://www.themadscientists.biz After months of failed genetic modifications, strange cross-breedings, and general laboratory mishaps The Mad Scientists are welcoming a fellow humanoid, Brandon Whitehead, into the laboratory as their new drummer. The new incarnation of the band will make their debut Friday, October 19th at the Dallas Scaregrounds. Strange rumors have been spreading among neighbors and passers-by due to evidence of increased activity in the lab in recent weeks. But contrary to most of them The Mad Scientists are no less sane than they’ve ever been. The band has been running tests with and on Brandon to see if the sonic concoction they’re creating is potent enough to be administered to audiences. Brandon is a heavy, driving, punk player which has made The Mad Scientists’ overall feel more tight and condensed but stills retains the more intricate and weird elements the band has a reputation for. “One thing we’ve always wanted is for each band member to have their own unique influences. It is incredibly boring to listen to bands whose members have identical influeces. It comes off a one dimensional and generic. One common thread we kept seeing when looking through classifieds and contacting musicians was that our influences weren’t identical to theirs they weren’t interested. That may explain the glut of generic sounding bands out there. We want lots of textures and when you have to challenge yourself as a musician to fit what everyone brings in stylistically you get a richer multi-demensional soundscape,” explains Kim. Now that there is a complete line up the band has big plans for the next year including long awaited new music, a live album, videos, more frequent live shows with mulit-media elements. Interested test subjects will be able to attend live experiments begining in October when the band will begin playing live again for the first time in six months. The first show will be at the Dallas Scaregrounds (2001 Irving Blvd.) on October 19th with Violent Squid and Silk Stocking and a follow up with 4 sets on Halloween night in Ft. Worth at Hangman’s House of Horrors (I-35 and Forest Park Blvd) beging at 7pm
