New D’Addario Artist - Von Cello

Von Cello, the rock cellist, has joined the ranks of Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, Bruce Springstein, Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Kevin Eubanks and others as an official endorser of D’Addario Strings! The endorsement contract was offered on August 14th, 2000 and was quickly accepted. Due to his unusual background as a respected classical musician turned rocker, Von Cello fits into two of the categories of D’Addario Artists, the bowed instrument and rock categories. The way this endorsement came about is interesting. Von Cello was performing as a Yamaha Artist at the World Cello Congress III, this summer, at Towson University, Maryland. A representative of D’Addario heard him play and was so impressed that he gave him a set of D’Addario Helicore strings to try. Von Cello was not expecting to be swayed from the brand of strings that he had been using for most of his career. To his surprise he was able to get deeper and stronger sounds out of his cello than ever before. He contacted D’Addario, saying that he would like to endorse the strings. After reviewing his press kit, D’Addario made the offer. This brings to four, the number of official endorsements that Von Cello has accepted. The others are Yamaha (electric cello), Gallien-Krueger (700RB amplifier), and PegHeds (super strong cello endpin). All are top companies in their respective fields. It is surely a testament to the uniqueness and growing fame of Von Cello that such companies have chosen to align themselves with him. Asked about this, Von Cello said, “All of the years of hard work and struggle are finally bearing fruit.” Commenting on the prestige of the D’Addario endorsement he said, “To be on a roster with the likes of Santana, Springstein and other great artists is a wonderful thing!”
