Art-Pop Songstress Plans Raucous Holiday Event for December 23rd at Joe’s Pub

It’s Lilith Fair Indie Rocker Meets Catskills Showman, as ‘Tchatchkes & Latkes!’ Mixes Rachael Sage’s Campy, Vaudevillian Shtick with Impressive Musicality

Fresh from her emergence as the surprise hit of the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, art-pop-rocker Rachael Sage brings her campy, inspiring, ‘Tchatchkes & Latkes!’ to Joe’s Pub in NYC for a December 23rd Holiday event.

Her post-Hanukah-pre-Christmas musical hijinks will feature Sage’s quirky theatricality at its best – an upbeat evening of vaudevillian shtick, playful Yiddishkeit, tall tales, pianistic flair and written-on-the-spot, topical compositions.

Sage also promises to “weave songs from her eight-album discography with shpiel about her life as a former ballerina, adventures on the road, and her family’s extensive menorah collection.”

‘Tchatchkes & Latkes!’ will feature several special guests, including cellist Dave Eggar (Coldplay, The Who), percussionist Quinn (Tracy Chapman, Marshall Crenshaw), and YouTube singing sensation Michelle Citrin (Rosh Hashanah Girl, Pass The Candle).

RACHAEL SAGE - ‘Tchatchkes & Latkes!’
JOES’S PUB – 425 Lafayette Street
Wednesday, December 23rd - 9:30pm
Tickets - $12

Sage’s song ‘Too Many Women’ appears on the soundtrack for the recent film ‘FAME’. The award-winning singer/pianist/performer mixes extraordinary musicality and an affinity for on-stage improvisation with a savvy business mind – she founded and runs MPress Records, she produces her albums, regularly tours over 150 dates per year, has built an impressive international following, and is an advocate for numerous causes. At her December 23rd Joe’s Pub event, Sage will also preview tracks from her forthcoming album "Delancey Street", scheduled for release in April 2010. The record, Sage’s ninth, features long-time collaborators and some new faces, including guitarist James Mastro (Ian Hunter), renowned bassist Will Lee (David Letterman), organist Jon Loyd (Gavin deGraw), and percussionist/vocalist Everett Bradley (Hall & Oates). Sage describes the introspective collection as "a musical exploration of identity...of cultural heritage, family history, and how where we come from shapes the paths we ultimately take in life…" More details about "Delancey Street" will be announced soon.
