"Grooveable Feast" Music & Talk Web Series Serves Up A New Kind Of Reality - Premiering October 20
In stark contrast to the current crop of reality programming that relies on caricatures and sensationalized situations, the IMAtv network will debut Grooveable Feast an original web series where musicians talk frankly about their lives, the music industry and topical issues over food and drinks.
Produced by The Independent Music Awards, the international program for independent artists and releases, and sponsored by Zagat Survey, the world's leading dining and entertainment resource, the series premieres Wednesday, October 20, at
Noon EST on http://Facebook.com/GrooveableFeast and
Hosted by Brooklyn-based musician Richard Julian, the first episodes feature established and rising independent talent including Suzanne Vega, Josh Ritter, Jesse Harris,
Jim Campilongo, Somi, Amy Correia, Hoots & Hellmouth and Dirtfootat various Manhattan and Brooklyn eateries. In addition to freewheeling conversation, each of the 8 half-hour episodes includes exclusive live performances by the featured artists.
Airing a new episode every 2 weeks, the show will stream on Facebook.com/GrooveableFeast as well as other online media sites. Premium content, contests and other extras will be available to all viewers who "like" the show on Facebook.
Grooveable Feast stands apart from entertainment that relies on 10-second sound bites, contrived situations, and food as a competitive sport. Summed up in the show's tagline
Where Musician's Meet For Dinner & A Show, the series hybrid cinema verite and "fly on the wall" format is more "My Dinner With Andre" than "celebreality" or talk show.
While conversation is the common thread, each episode is as unique as the restaurants and artists featured. Sharing stories both extraordinary and quotidian - from tour mishaps and the mysteries of the creative process, to coping with shifting realities and living without a safety net, their tales resonate.
Grooveable Feast was created and executive produced by Jude Folkman and Martin Folkman of Music Resource Group. Show host, Richard Julian is also an executive producer and composed the show's theme song "Your Thing." Dorian Tocker of IMAtv directed the eight episodes.
"Independent songwriters and musicians are not only interesting, they're inspirational," said Martin Folkman. "Despite personal sacrifice very few make a comfortable living from their art, yet they continue to pursue their dreams and live life on their own terms. We turned the cameras on and let the art unfold."
