Music City’s Resident Guitar Prodigy David Andersen Releases Two Back-to-Back Virtuoso Albums
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: PLA Media Phone: (615) 327-0100 Music City’s Resident Guitar Prodigy David Andersen Releases Two Back-to-Back Virtuoso Albums Virtuoso – Merriam-Webster defines it as one skilled in or having a taste for the fine arts; one that excels in the technique of an art. Question: How do you become a Virtuoso? Answer: Play 12,000 hours of public performances at the Country Music Hall of Fame, play 6,000 gigs in Nashville, perform at high profile events, perform at every venue in Music City from the Bluebird Cafe to the Bridgestone Arena, play for over a million people, be able to strum country music, classical, rock, jazz and even gospel tunes, and spend 20 years becoming the Ambassador of Music City. Guitar wunderkind David Andersen journeys back to revisit the repertoire originally explored by his heroes paying tribute to two masters of his formative years, jazz genius Joe Pass and “certified guitar player” and producer/label exec Chet Atkins. To honor these two pioneers, Andersen has just released two brand new CD’s Virtuoso & Virtuoso II. These two companion volumes mark Andersen’s follow-up to 2010’s Countrypolitan, a duet project with guitar legend Harold Bradley. “My musical tastes have always been far flung and I grew up listening to both Chet and Joe Pass,” remarks Andersen. “Their influence is unavoidable.” The first album, Virtuoso is a jazz compilation that is Andersen’s journey through the deluxe set of songs Joe Pass has released. “One of the few music books I had as a young guitarist was the ‘Joe Pass Guitar Chords’ book where I was able to put my own arrangements of jazz standards in with his harmonies.” This is portrayed in such pieces like A Foggy Day and My Romance. The second disc, Virtuoso II is dedicated to Chet who gave the young guitarist one of the biggest thrills of his life by recognizing and encouraging the young talent early in his Nashville career. Andersen has shown his own technique in these songs including country standards such as Freight Train and Wheels, as well as some knuckle-busters like The Entertainer, and Mr. Sandman. A child music prodigy reared in Long Beach, California, Andersen could play music before he could even talk. An accomplished songwriter and proficient on multiple instruments, Andersen’s music is currently being played on WAMB-FM. Each day, he gives every new friend he meets at the Country Music Hall of Fame his signature guitar pick and a challenge..."remember why they came to Nashville and to take time to enjoy the music they came here to find." Indeed, with new albums and a landmark accomplishment under his belt, Andersen not only remembers but lives and breathes the music of Nashville every day. With all his experience in Music City, Andersen is a guitar virtuoso in every sense…it would take such a talent to take on two simultaneous and challenging projects at once.
