July 20, 2012 - Global entertainment insights company Musicmetric have set their “big data” to task by analyzing which artists are most likely to win in each category of the Teen Choice Awards, which will be televised on FOX Sunday, July 22.

Musicmetric ranked the artists in each category using a unique blend of social media metrics, P2P activity in the USA, and demographic data to compile their predictions; essentially, how fans are “voting” with their actions online and across social networks. Of course, what will actually happen on the day is down to the Teen Choice voters.

It will be no surprise to many that according to Musicmetric’s data, Carly Rae Jepsen is tipped to take away the award for Breakout Artist, or that Taylor Swift looks set to top in the Female Country Artist category. UK boyband One Direction have staged a dramatic entry into the hearts U.S. fans, and could scoop both Love Song for “What Makes You Beautiful” and Breakout Group.

Kay Perry will surely be celebrating again as she is predicted to come away with the most accolades, with a grand total of three awards: Break-Up Song, Single by Female Artist, and Female artist, while LMFAO looks likely to take both the Single by Group and Music Group categories.

Interestingly, ols skoolers Linkin Park topped the Rock Group category, while the family-friendly Coldplay are tipped for Rock Song.

Love her or hate her, the stats are behind Nicki Minaj’s “Starship” in the R&B/Hip-Hop song category, and all signs are that Beiber-mania is still goings strong with the baby-faced “Boyfriend” singer predicted to clinch Single by Male Artist and Male Artist of the Year awards.
