Fire On McGinnis Single "Foggy Dew" To Showcase On Indie Compilation, "Indie Anthems"

The Indie Anthems Compilation is an on-going series that will feature some of the best up and coming unsigned and independent artists worldwide. The next shows for Fire on McGinnis are: July 27th, 2012 - The Fogcutter, Haines, Ak, July 28th, 2012 - Alaska State fair, Haines, Ak Dateline: Los Angeles, California, July 20, 2012 – Fire on McGinnis is donating their song "Foggy Dew" to the WiFiPR Group Complilaton “Indie Anthems”. “Foggy Dew” is a song about the 1916 Easter Uprising in Ireland. Irish republicans with the aims of ending British rule and establishing the Irish Republic mounted the rising. The Fire on McGinnis arrangement of Foggy Dew is meant to build to energy and, in doing so, crosses the boundaries of Irish, Celtic, and Alternative rock. Fire on McGinnis is a rare breed of band out of Alaska. For the first time, this summer they will be opening for national artist touring acts at the Alaska State fair: Clinton Fearon, Larry and His Flask, The Whiskeydicks and Traveller. The band has been steadily growing its fan base and developing an interesting mystique. There is a story that a fan heard one of their songs in Poland, and as it turned out he was a animation artist. The fan contacted the band and offered to create a video for the song "Bedlam Boys”, and what the band didn't know was that he would go on to create an astonishing hallucinogenic moving work of art that was pure genius! The video has had a several viral events on Youtube and contracted out to various video and smart phone company's in the US and Asia. Apparently it is quite successful. Martha Defreest is the primary songwriter, and the bands inspiration often comes from the classical poet Robert Burns, who is most famously known for "Auld Lang Syne”. Robert Burns was a prolific poet who wrote 100's of poems, all ripe for a Fire on McGinnis song. A lot of their tunes are a new twist on a traditional song that in some cases has been around for 100's of years!
