Al Abrahms Joins Plateau Music Staff
AL ABRAMS JOINS PLATEAU MUSIC STAFF Ex-Motown Publicist Named Executive Director Of National Media Relations Nashville, TN (September 12, 2012) – Tony Mantor, President and CEO of Plateau Music, has named Al Abrams to the position of Executive Director Of National Media for the company. Abrams' first project will be to direct the media campaign for the label’s brand new release from Bobby Brooks Wilson, son of the R&B legend Jackie Wilson. "I had the good fortune of meeting Jackie Wilson and seeing him perform at the old Allen Theatre in Cleveland and 50 years later worked with Bobby when he portrayed his late father in the musical "Memories of Motown" stage show at the Estrel Theatre in Berlin in 2009. The resemblance, the vocal inflections, the mannerisms are uncanny." Abrams, who started his career in 1959 as the first employee of what was to become Berry Gordy, Jr.’s Motown Record Corporation adds, "I am delighted to be able to work with Bobby again. He is a tremendous talent and this CD will let the rest of the world know what an amazing voice he has. Bobby has an incredible vocal range and he is far more than just his father's man." The CD, titled It’s About Time, is scheduled for release on Sept 28, 2012. The 12 song CD features a mix of new songs and classic R&B packaged with a special commemorative collector's item booklet featuring rare and never before seen photographs. “When we were first introduced, I saw Bobby as an artist who was not satisfied to merely replicate the past, but use it as a platform to create his own interpretation of classic R & B. I also saw a singer who deserved a production that was tailored to him as opposed to his vocals being superimposed on "flavor of the month" tracks. Couple all of this with Bobby's work ethic and his extensive tour schedule and we have an artist whose true potential has just begun to be realized,” says Mantor, who produced the project.
