Caryn Tomlinson Appointed SVP, Corporate Communications At Universal Music Group International

Bookmark and Share
Caryn Tomlinson has been appointed Senior VP, Corporate Communications, at Universal Music Group International (UMGI), with immediate effect. She will report to Max Hole, Chief Operating Officer, UMGI, and Peter LoFrumento, President, Global Communications & Chief Communications Officer, Universal Music Group.

Universal Music Group is the world's leading music company. UMGI is the division which manages its businesses in more than 50 countries outside the United States.

In her new role, based in London, Tomlinson will be responsible for all UMGI's internal and external corporate communications and media relations, working closely with its business units and operating companies around the world.

Tomlinson has been Senior VP, Artist Relations, Global at EMI Music since 2006, having joined the company in 2002. Previously, she was PR Director for UK/Europe at EMI Music Publishing, where she worked from 1994-2001, and Business Co-ordinator for Mick Jagger from 2001-2002, based in Los Angeles and London. Earlier in her career, she held posts at London Records and 19 Management.

Tomlinson succeeds Adam White, UMGI's VP Communications, who is retiring. He has been with Universal Music in that capacity since 2002, following a long career in journalism on both sides of the Atlantic with Billboard, Music Week and Rolling Stone, among others.

Max Hole said, "We're fortunate to have someone as experienced and respected in our industry as Caryn for the tasks ahead. She has built up an incredible reputation all around the world, and her EMI knowledge and relationships will be invaluable for our integrated company. She will also bring a new, fresh approach to the way we do things."

Hole added, "Adam has made significant contributions to our changing business, and we will all miss him. He is respected and trusted by all the journalists, artists, artist managers and UMG staff that he has encountered during his time here, and he leaves Universal Music with our appreciation."

Caryn Tomlinson commented: "I am thrilled to be joining UMG at such a pivotal moment for the music business, and looking forward to helping shape the communications strategies necessary for the changing future of that business. Artists need the support of global music companies more than ever, and Universal Music is uniquely placed to support them across all their creative ambitions. I'm also delighted that I can continue working with so many of EMI's artists around the globe while discovering the incredible roster of UMG artists."
