Scott Gaines, Host For Country Today, Expresses His Sadness In A Special Poem For The Families Of Newton, CT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SCOTT GAINES, MORNING HOST FOR DIAL GLOBAL’S COUNTRY TODAY AND COUNTRY TODAY GOLD, EXPRESSES HIS SADNESS IN A SPECIAL POEM FOR THE FAMILIES OF NEWTOWN, CT FORT WORTH, TX (December 17, 2012) – Scott Gaines, morning host for Dial Global’s Country Today and Country Today Gold syndicated radio programs, was deeply saddened when he heard the news about the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. “I had recently had a gun pointed at me during an attempted robbery on the way to the studio at a gas station early one morning, and it changed my life that day, “said Gaines, “all my fear of that morning came back with flashbacks, and I was thinking about how those innocent kids and teachers must have felt paralyzed. My life was spared that morning, and I still don’t understand. I decided to put my feelings into a poem and wanted to share it with the families and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary.” I WAS ONLY 5 I went to school that morning and didn't know hate because…..I was only 5. I hugged my Mom and Dad before school; because I don’t have the ability to understand I wouldn't come home after school…..I was only 5! I don’t understand hate in someone’s heart….because, I was only 5 Right now, my heart only knew about Santa and what I wanted for Christmas, it didn't know about pain or suffering. My world was full of peace and my puppy dog and my bike, because I am 5… I would get excited every day when I saw my teacher and principal at school on a normal day…..but that day they became my hero, because they did their jobs with love and strength and sacrificed their lives, I don’t understand this, because I am only 5. Everything I see through my eyes is pure and simple, because I am only 5……Please don’t cloud that! I know my numbers and my colors and love to draw, please help me understand what I saw and why I live in world that lets me see that, because I am only 5…… When a “mean” man comes into my class and hurts me, I don’t understand and when I see my friends get hurt, I don’t understand…because I am only 5 Today, I got called to HEAVEN to be an angel, not by choice, but because Jesus needs me there to watch over you and he wanted you know that I am safe now and I am no longer scared and I am with him just like you wanted. He will take care of me until you can come and get me…..because I am only 5! May LOVE and LIGHT shine through you today and every day! Scott Gaines
