Does It Matter What Era A Star Is Born?
For Immediate release, December 31, 2012 – North Ayrshire, Scotland What’s been a secret for quite some time will soon be a reality. Scottish jazz singer, Christina Britton, will soon be in the limelight with her debut album “Oh, Charlie”, to be released in the spring of 2013. She’s in top form here and this “new voice” on the indie scene will soon have you swooning to the romance of an era gone by with romantic songs like “Oh, Charlie”, and “Carlotta” and the sexy, laughable tune of “You’re So Damn Country” that even Madeline Kahn herself would giggle over. American composers Ray deMeridan and Bobby Watson know exactly how to create a mood to get that show tune mentality rushing through Christina’s silver-screen veins. There’ll be no disappointment here. There’s a bit of everything on this album …. Tears, passion, hope and craziness. Italian composer, Nicola Offindani offers up his best with an upbeat, lighthearted, humorous take on “Monday Morning No. 9 Express” which has taken on a life of its own to become a No. 1 song on indie websites. “Boo Hoo Hoo Poor Me”, a soulful barroom, old-style song full of adversity and desire has Christina pulling out tricks as if you were back in time. And I must mention “Jeannie in A Bottle”, because it’s so contagious you will want to listen over and over again. It’s not often that you come across an artist as flexible in vocals, melody and style as Christina Britton. Although she started her career singing alternative rock, which she does so well, her love of jazz and show tunes has transformed her style into something magical. I don’t know how she’s been kept hidden for so long! This album was two years in the making as Christina struggled with personal issues, but never giving up on her desire to share her music. Life doesn’t always go your way as we all know… but reality be damned, she’s here and hotter than ever. It doesn’t matter what era a star is born, Christina is a star in every sense of the word. If you love experiencing new indie music, if you love something completely unique, you will want to listen to this album …. Oh, probably over and over again, I know I have since I received the first demo version. I can relate to the music and the words and that’s what makes this album so likeable. The lyrics aren’t silly ditties like a lot of todays music. They have a depth of passion and experience that can only come with time so kudos to lyricist, Casia of Canada, for a great insight into the mind. … Jordyn Ruine, Music Blogger
