Hilltop Hoods Initiative: $10K On Offer - Applications Now Open!
One emerging Australian hip hop/soul artist will have the opportunity to fast track their career with the 2013 Hilltop Hoods Initiative. Valued at $10,000, the grant is open to all up and coming hip hop/soul artists or groups who have not released an album professionally.
The grant is aimed at funding costs associated with the manufacture and release of an album. In addition, the winner will receive legal advice courtesy of David Vodicka and Media Arts Lawyers, which can be used for general or specific career advice plus a Shure Microphone prize pack.
Emerging hip hop group RUNFORYOURLIFE were the 2012 recipients of the Hilltop Hoods Initiative.
This year's judging panel features some of Australia's most influential figures in the world of hip hop:
* Hau (ACT) - Artist (Koolism), Presenter (triple j's The Hip Hop Show)
* Nish (SA) - Graffiti Artist, Community Worker
* Ran-Dee (NSW) - Manager (Def Wish Cast, Dialectrix, and Alphamama), Booking Agent, Promoter
* Raph (VIC) - Artist, Clothing Label Owner (Blank Clothing), Author (Behind The Beat)
Applications close February 26, 2013.
Winners will be announced on March 28, 2013!
