PRS For Music Adds Warp And Nettwerk One To Its Expanding Collective Of Indie Publishers
The collecting society that represents 95,000 songwriters, composers and publishers has confirmed that it has added world renowned publishers, Warp Music Ltd. and Nettwerk One Music Ltd. to its Independent Music Publishers' European Licensing (IMPEL) collective, bringing the total membership to twenty.
Ben McEwen, Head of Online, PRS for Music said, "It's been a year of significant milestones for PRS for Music's online licensing activity, with a number of key new services licensed and the continued growth of IMPEL proving itself to be a force in the market.
IMPEL represents an impressive list of repertoire such as David Bowie (Bucks), Justin Timberlake (Imagem), Lou Reed (Spirit) and Goldie (Westbury), amongst many others and almost £7m in royalties already distributed through the initiative.
Joanna Hagger, Warp Music Ltd. commented "Joining IMPEL was a simple process and we've received support from a great team so far. It is important for us to work across the whole of Europe with a direct licensor that understands the needs of an independent."
By the end of 2012, PRS for Music also confirmed it had secured pan-European licenses for cloud services provided by iTunes, Google, Amazon and Microsoft, providing access to British repertoire across multiple territories and ultimately to millions of tracks.
McEwen concluded, "Our ongoing commitment to support the growth and development of legitimate music services across is great news for our members at a time of continued transition for the wider industry. I am very optimistic 2012 revenues will reflect the strides we have made in pan-European licensing."
