Nicole Moudaber Launches MOOD Records
MOOD Records, the brand new label founded by the newly "crowned Queen of Techno" (Dancing Astronaut) Nicole Moudaber, will host the official launch party at Pacha New York on Saturday, January 26. In addition to an epic, 5-hour set from Nicole, those in attendance will hear sets from Alan Fitzpatrick and Nathan Barato. Then, on February 25, the label will release its debut EP, In The Mood, that includes Nicole's original, a Nathan Barato remix and a re-work from Moudaber herself. The imprint's debut track "In The Mood" features the considerable vocal talents of Hosie. Centered on a tightly programmed funky groove and shimmering chords, the unmistakeable and infectious hip hop-influenced vocal complements Nicole's expertly honed studio skills. Aimed firmly at the dance floor, this percussive house outing demonstrates Nicole's versatility, and will be a welcome addition to the music arsenal of DJs worldwide. On the flip side, Nicole Moudaber again steps up to provide a much deeper rework of her original production. Here Nicole strips back the beat to its thumping bare bones, and removes much of Hosie's original vocal leaving only echoing snippets, thus expertly creating a fresh atmosphere and tension. As the ethos of MOOD is to provide an outlet for works from both established names and newcomers alike, it is fitting that the inaugural release is rounded off with a fine remix by veteran Canadian DJ & producer Nathan Barato. Nathan transforms the original by removing many of the groovy elements, instead adding driving hi-hats and a rolling bass that features heavily throughout the track's series of exciting peaks and troughs. Due for release February 25, In The Mood is a deadly debut EP for MOOD which is firmly steeped in the underground, and leaves listeners eagerly anticipating the labels' next output.
