Universal Music Publishing Group Signs Legendary Songwriting/Production Duo, Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis

Since partnering to form their now legendary music company Flyte Tyme on a handshake in 1982, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis have redefined the rules of modern songwriting and production. For over three decades the iconic duo have successfully written and produced hit songs across all genres of music ranging from pop, soul, dance and rap, to gospel, rock, country and reggae. They have amassed over 100 gold, platinum, multi-platinum and diamond albums collaborating on landmark projects for a range of artists including Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Beyonce, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Elton John, Usher, Yolanda Adams, Herb Alpert, Luther Vandross, Rod Stewart, New Edition, Human League, Earth, Wind and Fire, Mariah Carey, Robert Palmer, Gwen Stefani, Kanye West, and Janet Jackson. With over One Hundred Billboard top 10 songs including Twenty Six No.1 R&B, and Sixteen No.1 Hot 100 hits Jam & Lewis have achieved more No.1's than any other duo in Billboard chart history. The five time Grammy Award winners have collected over 100 ASCAP awards for songwriting and publishing including seven ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Songwriter of the Year Awards, two ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Awards, the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award, the ASCAP Publisher of the Year award, and the coveted ASCAP Golden Note Award for career excellence. This year the pair added two more ASCAP Awards for the #1 Billboard Rap/Hip-Hop smash "My Last" by Big Sean & Chris Brown, and the #1 Gospel Song of the Year "I Smile" by Kirk Franklin. Their media resume is just as impressive, crafting themes and soundtracks for The NBA on TNT & TBS, NBA Inside Stuff, FOX NFL Sunday, and the opening ceremonies of the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. They received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song for "Again" from the film Poetic Justice, and produced the film soundtracks to How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Mo Money, and The Fighting Temptations. Other film soundtracks include, The Prince of Egypt, Nutty Professor 2 The Klumps, The Emperors New Groove, Shark Tale, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Happy Feet 2, The Best Man, Precious, and Hotel Rwanda. Fittingly the duo have been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2013 the duo will commemorate their 30 year business partnership, and more importantly their 40 years of friendship with their first ever Jam & Lewis album project. The long awaited project will celebrate the beginning of the next creative chapter in the lives of the iconic team.
