Maurice Samuel Appointed PRS For Music Chief Economist
The organisation that represents some 95,000 songwriters, composers and publishers today confirmed the appointment of its new Chief Economist, Maurice Samuel.
Maurice Samuel was educated at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London University, where he received a First Class Honours degree in Economics with Geography and at King's College, Cambridge University, where he took a Master of Philosophy in Economics.
Maurice has worked for a wide range of public and private sector organisations, including HM Treasury, the Office of Fair Trading, the London Stock Exchange and, most recently, British Telecom (BT), where his analysis of customer churn proved pivotal in helping BT to secure deregulation in its residential retail markets.
Robert Ashcroft, PRS for Music Chief Executive said: "Maurice is a perfect fit for our organisation which has a complex remit across many sectors. His extensive experience in both technology and finance institutions means that he understands the powerful market transitions impacting our business. This is a unique time for the music industry and I am delighted to welcome Maurice to the PRS for Music team."
Maurice Samuel commented: "This is a very exciting time to be joining PRS for Music - an innovative company that embraces technology and values in-depth analysis. I look forward to using my experience of communications markets - and transitions within these from analogue to digital - to drive increased licensing revenue for our members."
