Sounds Australia's Export Push Grows With The Appointment Of Glenn Dickie
SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is Australia's music market development initiative, established to provide a cohesive and strategic platform to assist the Australian music industry access domestic and international business opportunities. SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is a joint initiative of the Australia Council and APRA|AMCOS, supported by the Federal Government together with state government agencies and peak industry associations. Glenn brings his 11 years of experience with Stage Mothers (founders of THE AUSSIE BBQ) as well as nearly 13 years at EMI Music Australia and has worked across all areas of the record business including promotions, marketing and A&R. He has worked closely with international artists such as Lily Allen and Katy Perry and helped develop local artist signings for Jet, Oh Mercy, 360, Grey Ghost, PEZ and most recently, Ricki Lee. Glenn also comes to the role with 12 years experience at Melbourne community radio station 3 TripleR as well as a performance background as drummer of The Goldhearted. "It feels like a natural progression for me to move into this role," said Glenn. "I'm really proud of what Mary (Mihelakos) and I have created with the Aussie BBQ and this new position allows me to work even closer on creating international opportunities for Australia's thriving contemporary music scene." Alicia Kish, formerly of Ivy League Records and most recently the Sydney Festival, has also commenced this week as Associate Producer, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA - filling in for Esti Zilber while she's on maternity leave. Dr Ianto Ware came on board recently to spearhead SOUNDS AUSTRALIA: LOCAL|LIVE operations as National Live Music Coordinator. After four years, Millie Millgate has been promoted to Executive Producer, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA. "I couldn't be more excited about the respective skills and expertise that Glenn, Ianto and Alicia bring to SOUNDS AUSTRALIA and what this will mean in terms of us providing an expanded suite of services for artists and music businesses alike," said Millie. "The growth of SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is testament to the belief and investment both government and industry has made to date and I am truly inspired by the future and the opportunities that lay ahead". Millie will continue to head the team, expanding her role to oversee both local and international opportunities for the Australian music industry. In just four years, Millie has been able to coordinate and establish events across Europe, the United Kingdom, North America, Canada and Asia including India.
