Wild Leaves Release Debut EP 'Wind & Rain'
Website: http://wearewildleaves.com Music: http://www.wearewildleaves.com/projects/06%20Wind%20%26%20Rain.mp3 FEBRUARY 19, 2013, Wild Leaves announced the release of their Debut EP, ' Wind & Rain' Out March 26th. The first single and title track is out now. This collection of seven songs is a follow-up to 'Sister', a 2012 demo described as "Lovely" (MOKB) and "utterly wonderful, evocative and poignant (Mad Mackerel)". Recorded live to tape over three days in Upstate New York, the album was Engineered and Mixed by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Dirty Beaches) and Mastered by Bob Mallory (Kings of Leon, Violens). ABOUT US Wild Leaves are five friends who moved from the Midwest to Brooklyn. That distance is recalled in their songs. Each one a look back at things left behind, and a reflection on new lives taking root. The band's sound is nostalgic, something with history - like a record rediscovered in your attic. Hazy melodies and spacious reverb recall memories not yet lost. THE STORY These songs grew out of the shared experience of being in transition. They speak to trials of distance, growing up, and the re-definition of home. To capture that feeling, the band recorded live to tape in an idyllic cottage in the Upper-Delaware River Valley, last October. They arrived just as a major storm made its way across the Eastern Seaboard. Winds howled through the surrounding forest as rain beat on the tin roof above. The band sought refuge in their songs, tracking to a dusty reel-to-reel recorder. The heat from the stove, scent of the wood, and the pleasure of home cooked meals all made their way onto the tape and contribute to the warmth and intimacy of the EP. The album cover, handrawn by Meg Molli, features the title surrounded by a sprig of Thyme, a symbol of strength and courage. Wind & Rain will be available March 26th as a limited-edition 12" vinyl and of course, digitally. Watch a teaser for the EP here: https://vimeo.com/5554314 We'll be putting out another single along, accompanied by a music video, in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned!
