SONGS FOR SANDY HOOK: A BENEFIT CONCERT
Website: http://www.facebook.com/songsforsandyhook (February 20, 2013 Los Angeles, CA) In response to the tragic shooting that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012; a group of musicians and artists from around the world donated their songs and talents to create a digital music compilation Songs For Sandy Hook: Volume 1 & 2 which features 40 songs available for download with all proceeds going to Danbury Hospital's crisis intervention programs. The two volume digital compilation, which released in December, has raised over $2,300. The compilation is available at www.songsforsandyhook.com. On Saturday night, March 2nd, eighteen of the contributing artists will come together for Songs For Sandy Hook: A Benefit Concert at The Talking Stick in Venice, CA (1411 Lincoln Blvd. Venice, CA 90291) from 7:00pm to midnight. A $10 suggested donation goes to Danbury Hospital's continuing counseling efforts. Any donation amount is appreciated, however no one will be turned away. Artists scheduled to perform on March 2nd include: Marvin Etzioni, The Conlons, David Vito Gregoli, Margie Balter, Popdudes, Brandon Schott, Hunter MacLeod, Celia Chavez, Arrica Rose & The …'s, Rob Mullins, Shannon Hurley, Steve Barton, Stefano Capobianco, Kirsten Proffit, Jaime Wyatt, Manda Mosher, CALICO the band, and Ted Wulfers. "It is important to us that the community of Newtown, CT knows we continue to care about them and support healing efforts headed by Danbury Hospital. This evening will be dedicated to the victims' families," say Manda Mosher & Brandon Schott (founders of Songs For Sandy Hook). "When a tragedy of this magnitude occurs, your first instinct is to jump in and help. This community of spirit not only shows Sandy Hook Elementary and the people of Newton, CT that the people of Los Angeles care, it provides a universal tether that connects us all, and reminds us that we are truly one. I had to do everything in my power to help make this concert occur," says Annette Conlon (Nette Radio / co-producer Songs For Sandy Hook: A Benefit Concert). In addition to suggested donations, an auction will be held to raise funds. Auction items include a Daisy Rock Guitar, a K's Choice music package including VIP tickets to their Hotel Cafe show on May 5th, (Sarah Bettens of K's Choice is a contributing compilation artist), a Susan Nicole vegan handbag, Gina Venturini Designs jewelry, and more.
