Grammy-Award Winner Miguel Signs Exclusive Worldwide Music Publishing Agreement With Universal Music Publishing Group
Grammy-award winning artist, songwriter, and producer Miguel has signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) as announced by Ethiopia Habtemariam, Executive Vice President of Creative and Head of Urban, UMPG. Miguel's critically-acclaimed sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream debuted inside the Top 5 of the Billboard 200. The album's first single, "Adorn," won Miguel a Grammy for Best R&B Song and rose to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song also had a record-setting run on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, becoming the only song in history to spend 20 or more weeks at No. 1 on the chart.
"You can only hope in your career that you are able to work with an incredible talent such as Miguel. He represents a new breed of talent uniquely changing and shaping the sound of music. Jill Tschogl and I are truly honored to have him join our team here at UMPG," said Ethiopia Habtemariam, Executive Vice President of Creative and Head of Urban, Universal Music Publishing Group.
"I'm so excited to finally have a team of publishing professionals that can broaden the reach of my music. I can't wait to collaborate with new musicians, directors and brands," said Miguel.
Miguel's 2010 debut album All I Want Is You spent almost a year on the Billboard 200 en route to selling over 400,000 copies, and he's collaborated with Beyoncé, Wale, Alicia Keys, J. Cole, and Salaam Remi, to name a few. He received a Grammy nod for Best R&B Song in 2011 for his contributions to Jaheim's "Finding My Way Back" and has also been shortlisted for awards by BET, the American Music Awards, and Billboard. Miguel is currently touring in support of his album with Alicia Keys.
