Universal Music Publishing Group Nashville Renews Exclusive Worldwide Publishing Deal With Troy Verges, Co-Writer Of Hunter Hayes' No. 1 Hit "Wanted"
"Year after year, Troy continues to write the hits that move the needle in Nashville, most recently with the songs 'Wanted' and 'Beer Money.' Universal Music Publishing Nashville is so proud and honored to extend our successful relationship with Troy. We look forward to many more years of great songs," said Kent Earls. "I couldn't be more excited to continue working with Universal. UMPG Nashville has been my publishing home for most of my career. I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing creative team taking care of my songs. Can't wait to see where we go from here!" said Troy Verges. Verges' most recent No. 1 hit, "Wanted," was co-written with and performed by fellow UMPG writer Hunter Hayes. The song topped Billboard's Country Songs chart and also earned a Grammy nomination. Verges' song "Beer Money," recorded by Kip Moore, also recently rose to the top spot on the Billboard Country Songs chart. In 2011, he also won Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for his original composition "Coming Home," which was featured prominently in the film Country Strong. Verges' talents have been sought by many of country and pop's biggest stars; his songs have been recorded by Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Bon Jovi, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Kenny Chesney, Celine Dion and Il Divo, to name a few. Verges got his start when he placed "Love Is A Sweet Thing" on Faith Hill's album Breathe, and within a year he scored two No. 1 hits with Jessica Andrews' "Who I Am" and Martina McBride's "Blessed." Verges went on to pen a slew of hits, including Trisha Yearwood's "I Would've Loved You Anyway," Lonestar's "With Me," Andy Griggs' "Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man," Tim McGraw's "Drugs or Jesus," Kenny Chesney's "You Save Me," and Carrie Underwood's No. 1 hit "Wasted." In 2002, he was named Country Songwriter of the Year by BMI and Songwriter of the Year by NSAI.
