Alternative Rock Artist Hemlok Climbs To The Top Of CMJ Charts With New Single, "Vendetta"

Easy to compare to A Perfect Circle or Evanescence with their female fronted vocalist, surreal textural melodies and dramatic live performances. Their single, "Vendetta" has climbed to #3 on CMJ’s Most Added Charts. Next shows are Dusk in Providence, RI March 8th and Copperfield's in Boston March 15th. Dateline: Los Angeles, California, February 18th, 2012 – Alternative Rock Band, Hemlok has recently released their new CD, A Cautionary Tale, which features the single, "Vendetta." The track has climbed to the #3 spot on the Most Added Charts on CMJ. College Radio Stations across the U.S. have been adding "Vendetta" into rotation on their respective stations. The track will also be featured on the upcoming Compilation, "Indie Anthems". The compilation, which is produced by the WiFiPR Group to showcase new artists they have recently signed to their client roster, will come out as digital release only and be distributed at upcoming music industry events including SXSW in Austin, TX in March. They say that the best revenge is living well and when lead vocalist Janis Cimerol wrote the lyrics to Hemlok’s current single, "Vendetta" she did so to tell the story of a broken, vengeful girl rising to avenge herself at the hands the one who betrayed her. Says Janis, "I came up with these lyrics when I was in high school. Adolescence is a cruel place, and I dealt with it by writing. By combining my heartfelt emotion and pain with my love of horror films & gore, Vendetta was born." Little did she realize at the time of writing it, that the song would end up climbing to the top of the coveted CMJ charts. Cimerol has a voice that is at times haunting and dark, yet driven with raw power. Hemlok's penchant for heavy riffs mixed with electric violin and haunting passages, throws the listener for a loop with a middle section that swings out of nowhere and then rebuilds the song back to its haunting power and conclusion.The band will soon be releasing a video for their Vendetta single. The lineup unusually includes electric violin and also heavily features 3-part, female-led harmony. Hemlok includes members: Janis Cimerol - Lead Vocals Bri Vieira - Vocals, Piano, Electric Violin Kevin Williams - Vocals, Bass, Arrangements John McGrath - Guitar and Devices Jason Myers - Drums and Percussion "A Cautionary Tale" was mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Jay Frigoletto, whose credits include The Dave Matthews Band, Candlebox, Alice in Chains, and many more. Janis Cimerol, the lead vocalist for the band also just recently auditioned in an open casting call in NYC to appear on the popular NBC reality talent show, The Voice. Although she received a call back from the show’s producers, she narrowly missed advancing to the top 20 vocalists out of thousands of singers. Lyrically, we find inspiration in not only our own lives and those close to us, but in unorthodox places of literature and music - "Vendetta" has a midsection inspired by Dave Brubeck, and a song such as "Nyarlathotep" finds its inspiration in the writings of H P Lovecraft. The whole of "A Cautionary Tale" found its theme in situations of peril or reflection, letting the songs be their own chapters in a greater work of warning to the listener."
