New Album "The Modest Revolution" Celebrates With Fans Worldwide

Since its birth in 1996, Toronto's Enter the Haggis has kept a rigorous recording and touring schedule, playing across Canada, Europe, and the United States. The Celtic-tinged band has charmed audiences with memorable appearances at such events as The Great American Irish Festival and the Dublin Irish Festival. The party continues this St. Patrick's Day in readiness for the debut of "The Modest Revolution" on March 30.

"TELEFUNKEN was a huge part of this new album," explained producer/engineer Zach McNees. "The ELA M260 tube mics are on all the acoustic instruments and really shine on Brian Buchanan's fiddle. My large diaphragm AR51s are on the drum kit and all the vocals were done either with the beautiful "Copperhead" U47 from the TELEFUNKEN Custom Shop or the studio's own ELA M 251. When the band is on the road, they have their dynamic M80s to rock the house well."

Enter the Haggis is comprised of Brian Buchanan on vocals, fiddle, keyboards, acoustic and electric guitar, Craig Downie on vocals, highland bagpipes, trumpet, harmonica, pennywhistle, acoustic guitar and bells, Trevor Lewington on vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, mandolin and keyboards, Mark Abraham on bass, vocals, and Bruce McCarthy on drums and percussion.

"We've used just about every vocal mic imaginable over the years," says lead singer Brian Buchanan, "but the second I tried the M80 in soundcheck for the first time, our FOH engineer just about cheered out loud. I picked up two of them, and I use them every night -- they sound great on our upcoming live album, too. Live sound is a tricky business, and it all comes down to your microphones. The T-Funk M80 is a great tool for any vocalist, and nothing makes you perform better than having the confidence that it sounds great out front"

The band's mission statement declares: From John Lennon's glint of sarcastic joy in "A Day In The Life," to Bono's mournful declaration on "Sunday Bloody Sunday," daily reports of man's tragedies, accomplishments, inhumanities and eccentricities have urged many artists to create everlasting melodic tributes.

In the spirit of these classics, Enter The Haggis created an entire album based on the contents of one day in one newspaper. The newspaper was the March 30, 2012, issue of The Globe and Mail, and the album that transpired is "The Modest Revolution," a quote from the front page story. The band ordered 1500 copies of the issue and had them delivered to their fans with copies of the new album.

The saga of "The Modest Revolution" extends beyond its unique inspiration. ETH set a reasonable goal of raising $20,000 in recording funds through a crowd funding platform called www.kickstarter.com. That modest vision was surpassed in less than 12 hours thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of the band's dedicated fan base. After a three month campaign, the total sum raised was $66,035. Recorded at Saint Claire Recording Company in Lexington, Kentucky by longtime friend and producer Zach McNees, Brian Buchanan notes the project is truly the encapsulation of a "family of people; a microcosmic industry."
