Los Angeles Indie-Folk Duo The Wellspring Showcase At SXSW, Release Singles From Debut Album
Website: http://thewellspringband.com/ Music: http://ladiesriseupandrock.com/music/willing-to-lose.mp3 LOS ANGELES, California (March 6, 2013) - Los Angeles indie-folk trailblazers the Wellspring will debut as official showcase artists at the eminent South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival on March 13, 2013, in Austin, Texas. The band will be showcasing on Wednesday, March 13 at 10:30pm at Raptor House; Friday, March 15 at 6pm at the Hyatt Regency (acoustic); and the Official Showcase on Saturday night, March 16, midnight at the Creekside at Hilton Garden Inn. Two singles from the Wellspring's upcoming debut full-length album, The Girl Who Cried Sheep, produced by Grammy-nominated, platinum record producer Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles, Anna Nalick), will be released at the festival. "What makes this record special for me is the dichotomy of producing the songs with a full live band, and yet also maintaining our essence as a duo, our intimate harmonies," says Dov Rosenblatt (vocals, guitar). "We put a lot of time and thought into crafting this album as a whole body of work." Talia Osteen and Dov Rosenblatt of the Wellspring are a songwriting duo described by SmashedChair Magazine as a "byproduct of the Troubadour era that breathed life into Carole King and James Taylor--soft-speaking musicians who carry big sticks." They are known for their intimate harmonies and deeply personal lyrics. Osteen and Rosenblatt toured North America in 2011, opening for Pete Yorn and Ben Kweller in support of the Wellspring's self-titled debut EP. The Wellspring EP was dubbed "#1 Indie Album of the Year" by Examiner.com. Their music has been featured on several popular TV series, including the FOX hit TV shows "House" and "MD," as well as ABC's "Cougar Town." They have been setting trends and experimental business models as independent musicians, breaking indie ground with their partnership with travel site LastMinuteTravel.com, which has fueled their tours and many local shows. In the summer of 2012, they scored all original music for the upcoming feature film comedy Coffee Town, written and directed by Brad Copeland (Arrested Development). Originally from New York, the Wellspring met when Rosenblatt asked Osteen, Vice President of a film production company at the time, about placing his music in their films. A few months later, Osteen quit her job to devote her attention to the band full time, and the duo have been writing songs together ever since.
