Human Anyway Releases "Truth In Lies" Feat. Steven Cooper
In a word filled with negativity, many times we let the words people call us or tell us about ourselves become the truths about ourselves in our head. This is the issue addressed in the new single and video by Human Anyway.
“Truth in Lies” featuring hip-hop artist Steven Cooper deals with the issue of self-esteem and self-image. The song is expanded even further in the music video to deal with the added issue of bullying.
Many times the demons in our heads allow us to believe the truths about ourselves instead of who and what we were and are created to be. When this happens as youth, it can haunt us through our adult years. And, even as adults, we let the images in magazines and on TV, words to songs, statements from others, and events in our lives determine our self-image.
The music video for the song takes all of these negative words and places them on mirrors, because it is ultimately what we see about ourselves that is what we believe. At the end of the video, all of the words are written on a large mirror that is then smashed and then reforms with the words “You Are Loved” on it.
The video stars second graders and junior high students from Nixa Public Schools who acted out the parts in addition to Human Anyway’s lead singer, Zac Rantz. One of the second graders, Alex, was asked what he learned through the song and the making of the video. He summed up the purposed of it all when he said that it wasn’t what others think us it is what we think about ourselves that is true.
“It is horrible to ask students, especially second graders, what names they have been called when you are writing them on the mirror in the video and they have no trouble listing off horrible things they have been called. That made this song and video even more important to us because we have to make sure our youth see themselves for who they really are, not through the eyes of others,” stated Rantz.
The video was directed and produced by Jason Brasier and Britney Greer of American Wasteland Entertainment and also by Rantz.
Lyrics to the song are below.

“Truth in Lies” by Human Anyway
How can we find these truths in lies
It’s getting me nowhere
I look in the mirror and all I find
Is less than what God made me to be
Shatter the demons in mind
Abusing who I really am
The eyes looking back at me
Are haunting me
Condemning me for
every move I make
Why won’t they let me see
Through this Reality
That the world convinces me is real
The voices in my head
Second guess the things I said
Winning every battle that I face
Why am I so mean
Why’s it so hard to keep
These lies from creeping in my head
They creep, they creep
They creep back in
These dirty little lies
Get under my skin
