New York-based avant-garde electronic band Tessa Makes Love released a music video for its single "Spente Le Stelle". Fronted by the unrestrained Tessa Lena, the band's one-of-a-kind approach to music is highlighted by the eccentric music video.
The video begins with a shot up the skirt of a giant Marilyn Monroe statue in palm springs. Then, Lena appears in complete body paint, looking as outlandish as her music. Her blue body paint juxtaposes sharply with her bright red hair. Lena dances in front of a green screen depicting images of the ocean, the city, and locked gates. Shots of Lena are interspersed with different shots of the Monroe Statue.
A classically trained singer, Lena's voice is a true gem and rivals that of professional opera singers. Her high-pitched, versatile vocals coyly dances around the hard-hitting electronic beats. Like the video's use of opposite colors, Lena's vocals sharply contrasts the music her band produces, offering a unique mix of sounds.
Tessa Makes Love consists of singer Tessa Lane, drummer David Cornejo, and regular collaborations with Ian McDonald. Tessa Lane was born and raised in Moscow. After moving to the US, she started a band called Shizowave in Chicago. She later move to New York and found Tessa Makes Love.
