Rockcast Triple Threat Match Gives Independent Rock Artists Opportunity To Showcase Talents

For rock bands looking for another opportunity to showcase their talents to the masses, one may need to look at the Triple Threat Match. The Triple Threat Match is a segment found on the Jim Santora Show Rockcast, heard every Wednesday night on SH ROCK (www.shmusicmedia.com).

Santora, whose show focuses on rock interviews with both national and independent artists as well as playing new music created the segment in October and has been picking up steam ever since.
“It’s really been fun to showcase a lot of amazing bands and to give them an avenue to reach a larger audience” states Santora, who was a vocalist for two bands before going back to radio, something he has done for over 20 years.

Rules for the Triple Threat Match are simple. There are three bands in each week’s segment which get played on the air live. Once all the artists have been played, listeners and fans can vote by a voting poll found on Facebook, e-mail or by phone. The artist with the most votes will be crowned the TTM Champion and will return the following week to defend against two new artists.

One of those bands that has held the TTM title is Madcapeye, a two-man metal band from Minnesota. Vince Verroust from the band says “Being part of the show was a great experience. It was the first time we could hear our music broadcast on an Internet radio, nice introduction of the band every time by Jim. At first we didn't think we would win, but we did 3 times and are proud of having been part of this. But above all, what really matters with the triple threat match is the opportunity for unsigned bands like us to have a bit of exposure, and have not only people who don't know such band to hear their music, but to also vote for it!”

Former champions have come from across the country including Dharmata and current champ Here Be Dragons from Florida, Sledgehammer from Delaware, Blk Vampires from New York and Mud River from Texas.

“Bands that have been champions on this program have had great music and great fans that help push the artist, which is important” states Santora. “What people will see is that other bands that have now won have also gained new fans from the process because they get exposed to a new audience, which is great for any band”.

The Triple Threat Match is always looking for new artists to put on the program. Santora says any band interested should send an e-mail to: submissions@jimsantorashow.com with a link to their music and the process begins from there. The show and station does play music in the genres of Hard Rock, Metal and Progressive Rock. However, there have been bands that are more Modern Rock that can give themselves a shot if interested. Santora says “We don’t try to turn anyone away because it’s an opportunity to showcase your band. We have had some bands more in the Alternative Rock genres and that is fine with me. At the end of the day it’s music”.
