Madison rock band, Sunspot, has always loved aliens and sci-fi. So, when they thought about releasing a cover to celebrate NASA's latest Mars mission, they thought that The Killers' "Spaceman" would be the perfect song.

The original track is about how aliens abducted the main character of the song and that nobody believed him or cared about it and the aliens themselves tried to convince him that the whole experience was "all in his mind". The Killers blend electronic and rock sounds in a way very similar to Sunspot's latest EP release, "Arthuriana" (available for free download at http://www.sunspotuniverse.com)

Sunspot takes clips of some great alien movies like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "A Trip To The Moon", "Fire in The Sky", and "Communion" and they superimpose themselves singing, playing, and dancing over the alien abduction action. "Whitley Strieber's book 'Communion' is the book that gave us the modern popular image of the grey alien. I remember seeing it on the checkout aisles of grocery stores when I was a kid", lead singer and bassist, Mike Huberty says. "I started reading the book and from the first night, I couldn't sleep because I thought I was going to be abducted by aliens. Well, I don't remember ever being abducted, of course that's maybe because I remember whatever they want me to remember, ha. The whole topic of alien abduction was one of the things that bonded the whole band from the beginning. In fact, I remember talking about stories from Budd Hopkins' 'Intruders' one night with Wendy (Lynn Staats, Sunspot's drummer) even before we were a band and then getting a scared phone call a few hours later!"

Sunspot is from Madison, Wisconsin and consists of Mike Huberty on vocals and bass, Ben Jaeger on guitars and backing vocals, and Wendy Lynn Staats on drums and backing vocals. They have won the Wisconsin Artist of the Year and the Madison Area awards for Best Rock Album three times.
