What’s In Store For 2014

2014 is already shaping up to be a great musical year! With SLEDD and Chris Michael What's In Store For 2014?Taylor currently in studio recording and now that the new year is in full effect, we can move forward in getting some of our plans accomplished. The new music coming from both artists is really spectacular! But, we have to say that don’t we? No, seriously the new music is really great and we can’t wait to get it out and for it to be heard. We have posted a few samples online but it is the stuff you haven’t heard that we are excited for you to get your hands on.

Over the past few months we have been asked “Anything new coming from HighVolMusic?” or “What is all the hype concerning the countdown?” and “What about Modern Superstar?” Well the new part we’ve just answered and there might be a thing or two coming later in the year. As for Modern Superstar, the band is on indefinite hiatus as previously reported. Zo is off doing other projects as is Ryche and the rest the band is off doing whatever it is that they might be doing. Trust us when we tell you to look forward to what is coming and “#wait for it“. Which leads us to the biggest question lately “What is all the hype surrounding the countdown and the random social media posts?”.

The Background Story…

Since entering this business back in 96′ I’ve always had a bigger plan for what I wanted to do. It is my plan, no one else’s but just an idea that as a music fan I thought would be cool for me to do. Whether anyone else bought into the idea was of no consequence at the time. Over the years I dismissed the idea for one reason or another but mostly because its so damn hard and costly to do anything in music and make it great. Plus there is the “you’re crazy” and it “won’t work” and all the other negative shit people say to stomp on your dream. Then there is the point of getting anyone to buy in and believe or work with you on an unknown project for little to nothing. But I get it no one likes working for free including me. More importantly getting fans to take notice and dig what bands are doing in this day and age is even tougher! Times have changed, I now have better resources and tools but I still need the fans to engage and the industry to take notice. I never take no for an answer and now I could care less about what people have to say with respect to me forging ahead with my dream plan.

I have worked with some great artists in the past. Some that had a name and some that had no name and some that just talked a good game. The name artists just did it their way because they tasted success in some form or fashion and only knew the old way. They tell you they know of the current musical climate but still believe album sales to be relevant like 20 years ago and the money and budget they ask for is going to be paid back because of their past. At that time I was still learning from the pros. Yea, learning what not to do. Of course the no name artists were the exact opposite and did everything and more! While that was great to see them work hard, having little to no name, little resources plus combined with not being able to tour just did not work. And then there were the game talkers that did absolutely zero which equaled epic failure. Make no mistake about it, I made a few blunders too but learned from them and made good on what I could. Bottom line is you can build it but it don’t mean anyone will come.

Here’s the thing; I like the challenge of taking nothing and turning it in to something.

More to come… #N.A.D x S.O.R ?
