PCCW-HKT Becomes First Hong Kong Dealer Of The Xiaomi Hongmi Smartphone

Bookmark and Share

PCCW-HKT will be the first Hong Kong dealer of the hugely-popular Xiaomi Hongmi smartphone.

Made by Beijing-based consumer electronics and trendy smartphones maker Xiaomi, the Xiaomi Hongmi smartphone is equipped with a 1280 x 720 display with 4.7-inch screen; plus a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, dual SIM support (3G/2G) functionality, 4GB of internal storage and up to 32GB expandable storage when used with a microSD card. It also comes complete with an 8MP primary camera and can record 1080p HD video.

At a retail price of HK$999, this versatile smartphone is seen throughout Greater China as a lower-priced challenger to more globally-popular models. As an example of this smartphone's popularity, 10,000 units were sold in Hong Kong in just 36 seconds when the Xiaomi Hongmi was made available via its online shop.

PCCW-HKT will receive pre-orders between January 14 and 19 at all PCCW-HKT sales channels, before Hong Kong's first such retail agreement launches officially on January 20 when the handsets will be available to customers.

Customers can enjoy HK$0 handset price* when they subscribe to PCCW-HKT's "Ultimate Mobility SIM Plan" at a monthly rate of as low as HK$148. In addition, we will launch a HK$3,088 "Special Prepaid Package", comprising a handset and 18 months' mobile service with a pre-paid SIM without the need for registration.

Mr. Bruce Lam, Chief Marketing Officer of HKT's Wireless Business, said: "We are delighted to draw on our strengths in retail and value-added customer service – such as our free workshops – to make an attractive offer to the market for a handset that features such remarkable capabilities. We believe the versatility of the Xiaomi Hongmi smartphone will come into sharp focus when used in conjunction with PCCW-HKT mobile service's top-notch network and apps."
