Top awards were presented to songwriters from across the U.S. whose music self-empowers, transforms and will ultimately create a world that works for everyone. That’s the sentiment shared by winners, nominees and fans of the 2014 emPower Posi Awards. Posi music and its ability to forward social change were recognized at the 9th Annual Posi Music Festival January 17-20 in Orlando, Florida. Winners were announced in each of six themed categories - Uniting, Personal Transformation, Healing, Social Justice, New Thought and Music That Matters. Overall Best Video, Best Spoken Word entry and Service Awards for contribution to the Posi Music Industry were also named.

The awards were sponsored by emPower Music & Arts, whose motto is, “Change your music, change your life.” The organization was established in 2005 to cultivate Posi Music and provide song writers, performers, authors, speakers, organizations and fans with a means of unifying and voicing their dedication to creating positive global change. This year’s awards ceremony coincided with the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the kick-off of the Season for Non-Violence.

The Grammy-like event was hosted by emPower Music & Arts founders, Richard Mekdeci and Sue Riley. Leading Posi Music artists, Karen Drucker, Karen Taylor Good, Daniel Nahmod, Harold Payne, David Roth, Jana Stanfield, Sloan Wainwright, and more, presented the 2014 emPower Posi Awards to the recipients. Each of the presenters is a former emPower Posi Award winner and has played a significant role in the substantial growth of the Posi Music genre. Posi Music, music with a positive and encouraging message, is quickly gaining increased national attention with songs by popular artists such as Rascal Flats, Jewel, John Mayer and Katy Perry.

The emPower Music & Arts organization is also a resource for downloadable Posi music and licensing. Member songwriters and publishers gain recognition and royalties for the use of their compositions and materials.
