Berlin-based Jazz pianist, vocalist and composer Olivia Trummer is one of those rare artists whose myriad skills constantly compete to outdo each other. With four critically acclaimed albums to date, tours, performances with the likes of Bobby McFerrin, and a devoted fan base, this 28-year-old musician is clearly just getting started. Trummer will perform at The Cutting Room [44 E. 32nd Street] on Wed, January 29th at 10pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased by calling 212-691-1900 or by purchasing online at thecuttingroomnyc.com.

As a classically trained artist, Trummer’s performances often reflect a rich mixture of classical music and jazz including jazz-infused arrangements of works by Bach or Mozart. For the Cutting Room performance, she will perform music from her forthcoming album “Fly Now” as well as some standards; she will be joined by drummer Jimmy Cobb and bassist John Webber.

Based in Berlin, Trummer has a real connection with New York, having studied at The Manhattan School of Music. Over the last four years, Trummer has spent half her time in New York cultivating her unique sound and building up a loyal and growing fan base. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and The Jazz Standard to enraptured audiences.

It’s hard not to fall in love with Trummer. Fresh-faced, but flushed with the maturity of a seasoned jazz professional, she sings and plays with an effortlessness and confidence rare for someone so young. Her home country of Germany has awarded her the German Federal Young Musician Award no less than five times, as well as the German Record Critics’ Award.

Dubbed the European Norah Jones, Olivia Trummer is certainly an artist to keep your eye on, and a must-see this January 29th at The Cutting Room. http://www.oliviatrummer.de/english/home.php
