WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dazzling jazz singer, television personality and radio broadcast veteran Angela Stribling was graciously chosen to sing a selection honoring Quincy Jones at a very special program being mounted in Greensboro, North Carolina by the International Civil Rights Museum (ICRM). The event, which will be held on February 1 at the Koury Convention, will find legendary music, television and film producer Jones receiving “The Alston-Jones International Civil Rights Award” specifically for humanitarian efforts through his Listen Up Foundation, including building homes in South Africa and enhancing the lives the youth.

A fervent champion of South Africa’s late president Nelson Mandela as well as a fan and documenter of Quincy Jones work, Angela Stribling is thrilled by her platinum-plus opportunity of feting Mr. Jones at this prestigious event. Stribling states, “What an honor it is for me to contribute to such a powerful night for the International Civil Rights Museum’s Annual Gala. I've never met Quincy Jones but I'm fully aware of his impact on the entire world. From his many contributions as a musical genius, civil rights activist, philanthropist and humanitarian, Mr. Jones remains one of our national treasures. This evening will be a dream come true!”

Angela Stribling is most remembered her for the class and grace she served daily during the golden age of Black Entertainment Television (BET) as the host of the entertainment news program “Screen Scene.” Currently based in Washington D.C., the captivating Ms. Stribling is presently hosting the radio program “Straight Ahead” for local heritage station WHUR-HD plus preparing to launch a provocative syndicated radio program she calls “Pillow Talk with Angela Stribling” (the theme song is a remake of the sultry 1973 Sylvia classic “Pillow Talk” that is a collaboration with music master Marcus Miller). Angela is also performing in venues worldwide for her recordings Tokyo Sundays, Angela Stribling…Live (captured at the Blue Note Club in New York) and a third CD in pre-production.

Also being honored on February 1st by the ICRM is African American entrepreneur Clarence Avant, a North Carolina native and close associate of Mr. Jones who shall receive the organization’s “Trailblazer Award” for his excellence in accomplishments within the broadcasting, recording and publishing industries.
