‘A Thousand Years’ Tops List of Most Popular Love Songs Musicians Want to Play

MADISON, Wis. (February 10, 2014)— The hit song “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri and Adele’s “To Make You Feel My Love” were the top love songs musicians played in 2013, so will likely be among the favorite tunes performed this Valentine’s Day, according to a ranking of downloads by Musicnotes.com, the world’s top sheet music e-retailer and publisher.

Those songs ranked #1 and #2 respectively on the Top Ten List of the most popular sheet music downloads of love songs for the past year compiled by Musicnotes.com.

Coming in at #3 was Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” followed by Etta James’ classic song, “At Last” at #4, “Diamonds” by Rihanna at #5 and “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes at #6.

Rounding out Musicnotes.com’s Top Ten List of love songs are Pachelbel’s “Canon In D” at #7, “For Good” from the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’ at #8, “I See the Light,” from the Disney motion picture ‘Tangled’ at #9, and “Little Things” from One Direction at #10.

“Music is certainly about passion, and these love songs capture a wide range of romance, emotion and passion,” said Kathleen Marsh, CEO and Co-Founder of Musicnotes.com. “This list of the top-selling love songs on Musicnotes shows us that musicians, from beginner to professional, enjoy playing songs that highlight the many aspects of love. We can expect that music lovers will be performing these songs on and around Valentine’s Day, as well as throughout the year.”

Marsh added: “It’s said that music is the language of love, and one of the great things about Musicnotes.com is you can be moved by a song you hear, and find it, download it and start learning it within minutes.”

Launched in 1998, Musicnotes.com offers nearly 250,000 officially licensed downloadable sheet music arrangements to nearly four million customers worldwide. The company’s vast digital catalogue includes pieces for almost every instrument and skill level, including hard-to-find sheet music no longer in print production.
