PHILADELPHIA MUSICIANS GEAR UP FOR ANNUAL CHARITY EVENT

Bridgeport, Pa. (February 16, 2014) – Talk about a day of Peace, Love and Music! Nine local bands are, once again, coming together for the Fourth Annual Ribstock celebration on Sunday, February 16. The all-day music event, which kicks off at 2 PM and will raise money for Musicopia, a non-profit organization that reaches over 40,000 children each year through educational music enrichment programs in schools and communities throughout the Delaware Valley.

Hosted by the legendary Bridgeport Ribhouse (1049 Ford St., Bridgeport), the benefit concert will feature several area musicians who perform at the venue, including Deadflowers (Rolling Stones Tribute), Work Release, The Mile High Club, Barometer and more.

Admission to the show is $10.00, with all net proceeds benefitting Musicopia. Fans are also encouraged to also bring musical donations, including picks, amps, chords, drum sticks, guitars, strings, band instruments and more.

About Musicopia

Musicopia – a Philadelphia-based, non-profit music education organization – is looking for new or gently used instruments for their Gift of Music Program. Musicopia’s Gift of Music program collects, repairs, and places donated instruments in schools with students who are eager to play but cannot afford an instrument. Through this statewide initiative, spearheaded by Musicopia for the Philadelphia region, Musicopia has collected over 1000 instruments for schools in need. With the public’s help, they hold instrument donation drives and benefit concerts throughout the year, enabling them to give the Gift of Music to children who would love to play an instrument but do not have resources to buy or rent the needed equipment.
Musicopia also accepts donations for the Extra Measure Fund which helps them repair and refurbish donated instruments right away and put them quickly into the hands of an eager young musician. Gifts of any amount are welcome. As a general guide, it costs an average of $25 to repair and instrument. Donations may be made by check, payable to “Musicopia,” and mailed to the address below or via the “Donate Now” button on their website, www.Musicopia.net.

Musicopia is a non-profit organization that reaches over 40,000 children each year through educational music enrichment programs in schools and communities throughout the Delaware Valley. For 38 years, Musicopia has placed music programs in underserved schools and instruments in the hands of children. Musicopia’s interactive music programs feature approximately 100 of the region’s professional musicians.
