Internet Radio Station Launches All Conscious Music
Described as playing all positive and conscious music, Soul Traveller Radio launches globally on March 1, with music and styles ranging from indie folk to kirtan, world music to mantras, and electronic to rock; and although the range of styles are varied, all the artists have a common message of conscious living and positivity.
With the rapid decline of physical music stores and the increase in internet reliance, Soul Traveller Radio sees their role as a much needed one in the greater spiritual community as well as anyone interested in music labeled in the commercial world as fringe or indie.
Program Manager, Mr Shayne Locke, describes the station’s format as delivering music by artists that are rarely heard on commercial radio. “The only way many of the artists heard on Soul Traveller can be discovered is through word of mouth, social media or the local conscious living bookstore.
The line-up of programs is also wide berth from standard radio programming. Morning breakfast teams are replaced with meditation shows and yoga music, positive affirmations instead of news breaks, interviews with artists to find out more about who they are and how they started rather than just playing their music; and Saturday nights will feature positive beats with DJ Ryan Farish direct from LA.
Mr Locke says, “the current alternative to commercial stations are blog talk radio or special interest stations that only broadcast when a show is being aired. Soul Traveller Radio is dedicated to presenting a new and exciting music format 24 hours a day, fully supported by record labels such as One World or Peter Gabriel’s Real World Music that struggle to get music played on radio.”
“We are also mindful of our global audience so wherever you are in the world our programs will be repeated at the core times for your location (AEST, PST & GMT) It means that our shows are repeated a few times during the day, offering you a chance to catch up on programs you may have missed as well.”
The new radio station’s sister publication, Sage Magazine has been around for 12 months now with a distribution in excess of 200,000 people worldwide, and to coincide with the launch of Soul Traveller Radio, Sage Magazine Issue 3 was released this week (http://sagemagazine.net/sage_magazine_issue_3/).
