Groove Rocker Seth Winters On Par For Success With Latest EP, The Rise Of Setti May
Groove rock takes on a warmth and appeal when it’s in the hands of rock ‘n’ roll artist Seth Winters. With a distinct voice and fingers that fly up and down the neck of his guitar, Seth has a lot to offer the music industry, even beyond the growing independent music scene of his hometown of Athens, GA. Earlier this year, he released his EP The Rise of Setti May and performed a slew of shows all over the southeast to promote it, which he will continue to do into next year.
While Seth holds down the fort on vocals and guitar, he is joined by his backing band Brian Bensky on bass and Richie Jones on drums. His backing band helps to complete his vision of what non-acoustic performances should sound like.
Seth’s music, a harmonious blend of classic rock ‘n’ roll with a hint of the blues, is most often compared to Warren Haynes, one of his chief musical influences, as well as John Mayer and Derek Trucks. He also names other musical influences such as Jimmy Herring, Paul Simon, James Taylor, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers and more. He is inspired by a wide range of topics and life experiences, such as socio-political issues, drug addiction and love, and he also writes a good deal about politics and the current state of the world.
Seth made his recording debut with As Daylight Shines, released in 2009. When it was released, Relix Magazine named Seth one of its “On the Verge” artists. After a few more years of fine-tuning his music and further developing his talents, he followed up that album with the four-track EP, The Rise of Setti May, in April 2013. This latest EP is one of Seth’s crowning achievements, and it is poised to get him on the radar of countless fans and critics across the country.
Seth will receive still more international recognition when he joins other fresh independent talent from around the world on WiFi PR Group’s digital mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 4, to be released as limited download cards at SXSW in March 2014. The mixtape will feature his track, “Naked in the Wind,” off his latest EP.
Seth enjoys frequent collaborations with other artists, both live and on his recordings. On his latest EP, The Rise of Setti May, Keith Cotton, who is longtime keyboardist for Joan Osborne and current keyboardist for Spiderman on Broadway is on two tracks on keys and background vocals. On As Daylight Shines, he recorded with other musical heavyweights, including Jerry Depizzo of O.A.R. and Bobby Lee Rodgers, with production and background vocal work from Cotton as well.
He’s also opened for and played with many national artists over the years. He opened for Joan Osborne at City Wintery in New York City, for Dave Schools of Widespread Panic’s Stockholm Syndrome at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City, and he’s jammed with The Revivalists from New Orleans, LA, many times in Athens, New Orleans, Pensacola, FL, and Atlanta, GA.
His next upcoming performance will be on March 21st, 2014 at The Good Ol Days Pub in Cumming, GA, and many more will be added to the show list soon. You can find more information about his upcoming shows on his website.
If you can’t catch him live, you can check out and download his music on iTunes and Amazon.
