Jamendo Partners Up To Kick Off The 2014 EuroMusic Contest

After a successful first edition in 2011 with 2,500 artists and 110,000 votes, the EuroMusic Contest is back again this year, bigger and stronger than ever. Presented as a web 2.0 Eurovision, the project is a non-institutional music competition based on innovative technologies and open to all independent European musicians, who are invited to register online in 40 countries.

As an active supporter of emerging talents online, Jamendo comes as a natural partner, with many of its artists joining the contest. iConcerts, Zimbalam and Swarm Planet, along with media partners Le Nouvel Observateur, Wired and Euronews are also supporting the two organizing companies, My Band Market and Div'Up, to make this project the largest and most complete online competition to date for independent music artists in Europe.

The EuroMusic Contest encourages artistic quality, diversity and creativity promoted by Internet users. An online voting system will allow every Internet user to participate in the selection of the finalist musicians or bands, through Facebook.

The registration period is now open in 40 countries* until April, 10th, 2014. It is followed by the online voting period in April, determining the 40 pre-finalists (one from each country). In May 2014, ten of them will be chosen by a jury composed of music industry professionals to represent their respective countries. This selection process leads to the big final event, the EuroMusic Live concert, streamed live from La Cigale in Paris, France in June 2014, in front of 1,000 people. During the EuroMusic Live, the public will be able to vote in real time on the live-streaming page for their favorite artists.

Registration is open to every musician and/or amateur, solo singer or band up to 8 members, 13 years old or older, and at least one of the members of the band must be a citizen of one of the 40 participating countries. Artists must be able to perform live in full, thereby excluding any pre-recorded material.

The winner of the EuroMusic Contest will be the choice of the very wide European public; a talent with potential recognized by thousands of individuals, amateurs, experts and professionals.

In addition to the huge exposure given by this unprecedented project and the chance to perform in one of Paris' finest venues, the winner will be offered a 3-day recording session in a world-class recording studio: Black Rock Studios in Santorini, Greece.
