Los Angeles College Of Music Announces Unique "Summer Xperience" For Music Enthusiasts Of All Ages

Bookmark and Share

Summer is a great time to develop musical skills and The Los Angeles College of Music, formerly known as LAMA, offers week-long intensive summer musical programs for music enthusiasts of all ages. LACM's Summer Xperience programs include Music Performance and Music Production (Session 1: June 23-27, 9am-5pm) as well as Songwriting and the 5th annual Drummer's Reality Camp (Session 2: June 28-July 2, 9am-5pm). Students participate in master classes, private lessons, student recitals, large ensembles and recording sessions taught by LACM faculty and top music industry members such as American Idol's Vocal Coach Dorian Holley, Everclear's Art Alexakis, Sugarcult/The Ataris' Marko Desantis, and talent associated with Stevie Wonder, Madonna, The Grammy's, The Simpsons, the Black Eyed Peas, Dancing With the Stars and more. Small class sizes and intensive one-on-one coaching make this program unique. Participants leave inspired, transformed and with skills to drive their music forward. These "Summer Music Intensives" will all be held at the LACM campus, 300 South Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, CA.

Geared towards teens, tweens (ages 10+), college students and music enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, LACM's Summer Xperience helps students learn how to rock AND have a successful career, and gives unique one-on-one mentoring opportunities with entertainment's top musicians, songwriters and producers. Whether they want to enter the world of recording and music production, get intensive training in performance technique for guitar, bass, drums or vocals, get one-of-a kind immersion into the art and craft of songwriting or sign up for the 5th annual drummer's reality camp, students will be able to get up close and personal at a renowned music school with some of the most respected names in the music industry. Summer Xperience participants will leave with a video of their live performance, and will get in one week what most people get in years.

All LACM Summer Xperience students under the age of 18 will be paired in peer groups, led by an adult LACM mentor. Their mentor will assist them in finding their classes and private lessons, and help them navigate the resources available to students at LAMA. This mentor will be available to the student throughout each day, from the moment they arrive on campus to the moment they leave each evening. LACM employs a check-in and check-out system to ensure they've been picked up by a guardian or chaperoned back to their hotel at the end of the day. LACM also is a FAMILY-FRIENDLY CAMPUS, and welcomes the parents, guardians and family members of our LACM Summer Xperience students on campus. From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the LACM Summer Xperience Family Lounge is open to any parents or guardians that would like to remain on campus while their student attends their class sessions.

Additionally, students that complete any 2014 LACM Summer Xperience and subsequently enroll in any full-time program offered by LACM beginning no later than Spring, 2016, will be eligible for a tuition credit equal to the amount paid for the LACM Summer Xperience program. This credit will be applied toward the first quarter of full-time academic program enrollment.

Costs for Music Performance, Producer and Songwriter programs are $1095 per week. The Drummer's Reality Camp is $895 for the week. There is a $300 discount if students participate in both weeks.
