OpenAura Releases Beta API, 8tracks First Service To Integrate
- Music Services and App Developers Can Now Utilize Platform’s Authentic, Artist-Curated, Dynamic Set of Content
SAN FRANCISCO, California—March 25, 2014 – OpenAura, the recently launched platform that aggregates and syndicates authentic artist identity, has made its first API offering, Artist Info, available in public beta. Developers can now integrate this deep catalog of artist images and information into their music apps, services and websites.
Internet radio network 8tracks is the first to leverage OpenAura's Artist Info Classic API, which is now available to any developer for free commercial use. OpenAura also offers a premium version of its Artist Info API that provides access to a full set of images, information and social content the platform aggregates via a single, uniform API interface. Artists can sign up to OpenAura for free to claim and curate their Aura, which is updated across apps and services like 8tracks that leverage the OpenAura Artist Info API.
"We're thrilled to have our first API available to the developer community and to launch with a live implementation right out of the gate with 8tracks," said OpenAura founder and CEO Kevin Arnold. "This is the first step towards our goal of creating next-generation music user experiences, addressing the fundamental need for a central source of artist information and visual content. Apps and services now have a new toolkit that taps directly into the dynamic, social, visual content stream of true artist identity. We look forward to working further with 8tracks and the wider marketplace to create modern, engaging artist-fan experiences."
8tracks is a curated Internet radio network that delivers the right playlist for any taste, activity or mood. Its integration of OpenAura’s Artist Info Classic API means that artists can now manage how they are represented to the nearly 7 million listeners who tune into 8tracks’ playlists each month.
“One of the primary reasons music fans choose 8tracks over the other top digital music services is its ability to facilitate music discovery, and we want to provide our listeners with the best artist images and information to further that discovery experience,” said David Porter, CEO of 8tracks. “OpenAura’s single API brings in rich, authentic content from a variety of sources, making for simple integration while delivering a plethora of content to complement playlists on our network.”
OpenAura’s Artist Info API is comprised of two main offerings:
• Artist Info Classic API, available to developers without charge, provides basic artist identity content including artist image, bio, and a limited set of artist facts.
• Artist Info Premium API provides access to an expansive, dynamic catalog of artist images, social content, and information.
