INDIANAPOLIS (March 27, 2014)—Yamaha Artist Services Indianapolis today announced that percussionist and composer Glenn Kotche has joined the Yamaha Percussion Artist family.

The Chicago Tribune hailed Kotche for his “unfailing taste, technique and discipline.” A member of the Chicago-based rock band Wilco since 2001, Kotche has recorded on several GRAMMY nominated albums, including Wilco, Sky Blue Sky and the 2005 GRAMMY Award-winning album A Ghost is Born.

“Glenn Kotche is a unique artist, an innovative spirit and a prolific composer,” said John Wittmann, director, artist relations and education, Yamaha Artist Services Indianapolis. “Knowing that he will continue his performance and composition work using Yamaha percussion instruments means that the company’s “Pursuit of Sound” just got a lot more serious with Glenn on board.”

In addition to his work with Wilco, Kotche enjoys a successful solo career. His fourth studio album, Adventureland, will be released in the spring of 2014. A revered composer, he has written pieces that have been performed throughout the world for many world-renowned ensembles, including the Kronos Quartet, The Silk Road Ensemble and Eighth Blackbird. He also records and performs regularly as a member of rhythm duo On Fillmore and the trio Loose Fur.

Kotche has appeared on the covers of Modern Drummer and Percussive Notes, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Percussive Arts Society. He will play a variety of percussion instruments and DTX electronic drums.

“It is an exciting prospect to be officially working with Yamaha,” Kotche said. “I am very happy with the sound and playability of my Yamaha orchestra bells, both live and in the studio, and am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead as I explore more Yamaha concert and electronic percussion instruments.”
