Hal Leonard And Cakewalk Forge Distribution Partnership

Effective immediately, Cakewalk's product line - both professional and consumer - will have additional North American distribution through Hal Leonard. According to Cakewalk President Michael Hoover, "Hal Leonard is an established and highly respected outlet for a wide variety of technology products. Their expertise in reaching crucial markets - including education, worship, and independent MI retailers - will further Cakewalk's continuing growth and recognition as a manufacturer of premium, thoughtfully designed software."

Cakewalk is best known for SONAR, which is widely recognized as the premium DAW for Windows PC. The SONAR X3 family comprises SONAR X3, which delivers extraordinary value; SONAR X3 Studio, targeted to advanced home and project studios; and the flagship, SONAR X3 Producer, designed to meet the demands of professionals who require a program with the versatility to handle any kind of project. In addition, Cakewalk has been actively developing cross-platform products for Mac and PC that include award-winning instruments like Z3TA+ 2 and Rapture. Cakewalk's consumer line for entry-level recording also boasts the top-selling Music Creator line, which makes music easily accessible for musicians who are new to recording.

Hal Leonard Senior VP of Sales Doug Lady states, "Although Cakewalk's roots go back over 25 years, they've always remained on the cutting edge of innovation with products like their flagship recording program, SONAR. Their current product line complements what we offer, is ideal for instructional bundles, and presents new opportunities for retailers by offering a product family that spans the range from beginner to recording professional."

Since the company's acquisition by Gibson Brands in 2013, Cakewalk has been actively improving its distribution network across the world. Hoover says, "Hal Leonard will be a huge part of Cakewalk's revamped distribution network in North America. SONAR has long been an established brand and SONAR X3 has received rave reviews from users and critics. We believe this partnership with Hal Leonard will help deliver Cakewalk's products into the hands of a new generation of customers who need quality music recording solutions."
