Sonar Lights (US) Live In Hong Kong

Hong Kong: On Friday 2 May, The Underground presents two unique bands at one unique venue. Sonar Lights (US) return to the region to deliver their brand of heavy alternative rock, characterised by complex rhythms and textures and striking eastern melodic vocals. This will be their second visit to China after their performance at last year’s Midi Festival. They are ably supported by The Time Traveller, a high-achieving young local band who are forging their own sound based on diverse influences. Both of these bands are independent success stories, making it on their own and stretching traditional genre boundaries to create something truly unique. There’s no better stage for them than Saffron, which has bent the rules for Hong Kong cafés by creating an atmosphere that’s warm and welcoming, artistic and open, and emphatically focused on quality. This is a show not to be missed.

About Sonar Lights
===================
Sonar Lights hail from Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas. Their self-produced debut (2010) and dynamic live performances have earned them critical acclaim from fans, local press, radio stations and fellow musicians alike. They have held down regular radio spots and won battle of the bands on 97.1 FM The Eagle, the #1 rock station in Northern Texas, on multiple occasions. In the live sphere, they have opened for established acts including Cowboy Mouth, Candle Box, Vince Neil and the B-52′s, and toured with legendary band Rigor Mortis. In 2012 they joined Pandora and have now reached nearly 65,000 spins verifiable through Sound Exchange.

About The Time Traveller
=========================
The Time Traveller is a rising young local band making their mark on the region. Formed in the summer of 2009, they have performed regularly, won several awards and contributed their music to a Taiwan independent label compilation. Influenced by Brit-rock, post-rock and Japan-indie music, they are continually seeking new ways to enrich their sound. They play for love and are now preparing their first full-length album to bring their sound to a wider audience.

About Saffron on the Peak
=========================
Saffron café-bakery first opened its doors in Tai Tam in 2002 and has now expanded to five locations, serving meals for every time of the day along with a spectacular range of baked goods and a well-stocked deli for fresh, organic and gourmet items. Saffron’s Peak café, gastropub and venue is licensed to sell alcohol and open 7 days a week from 8am-11pm, later on weekends . It is fast becoming a cultural hub, hosting DJs, live music, literary and many other events. Throw in free wifi and a well-stocked magazine rack and you have a comfortable home away from home.
