EMedia Music To Expand The Guitar Lab DVD Series With Three New Titles For April 2014

Bookmark and Share

eMedia Music Corp., publisher of the world's best-selling series of music tutorial CD-ROMs and DVDs, in partnership with TrueFire, will release three new titles in the Guitar Lab line of guitar instruction DVDs in April 2014. The 50 Essential Bebop Licks, 50 Soul Jazz Licks, and 50 Right Hand Techniques You Must Know DVDs will be available April 30, 2014.

Top recording artist, educator, composer and monster jazz guitarist, Sheryl Bailey, dug deep and wide into the bebop soundscape to select the lines and approaches that comprise this essential vocabulary of bebop phrases. With 50 Essential Bebop Licks You Must Know, you'll learn lines inspired by bebop giants such as Charlie Parker, Joe Viola, Joe Pass, John Coltrane, Pat Martino, Sonny Stitt, Cannonball Adderley, Mike Stern, Dizzy Gillespie, Peter Bernstein and so many more. Learning licks from your favorite bebop players is key to understanding the deeper harmonic nuances of Bebop.

Soul Jazz grooves are wide-open and great fun to play because the rhythmic and harmonic framework is relatively simple - providing a highly improvisational landscape to work with. Although, in the words of Albert Collins: "Simple music is hard to play," and that's why this handpicked collection of licks will serve you well by stoking your vocabulary with ample ideas, motifs and other tricks of the Soul Jazz trade. Instructor, Tom Dempsey, dug deep into the Soul Jazz guitarist roster for inspiration for 50 Soul Jazz Licks Your Must Know. Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Pat Martino, Melvin Sparks, John Scofield, Peter Bernstein, Eric Kasnow, Mark Whitfield, and Norman Brown are all paid tribute.

Albert King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, and Freddie King are all masters of the slow blues. This collection of 50 Slow Blues Licks You Must Know is split into five groups representing the five most common styles of slow blues tunes and includes signature licks from these masters. Host Anthony Stauffer breaks it down for you note-by-note in this collection on the 50 Slow Blues Licks You Must Know DVD.

One of the world's foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, Muriel Anderson, is your instructor and host for 50 Right-Hand Techniques You Must Know. It's the first and only resource of its kind, and it's especially relevant today as musical styles converge to create fresh, exciting and interesting accompaniments, solos and compositions. 50 Right-Hand Techniques covers ALL of the essential right-hand techniques: Tone & Motion of Right Hand, Motion of the Thumb, Shaping Fingernails & Picks, Free Stroke, Rest Stroke, Twist & Slice, Flamenco Picado, Planting, Staccato, Arpeggio 4/4 Time, Lullaby Pattern in 3/4 & 4/4, Arpeggio Exercises, Thumb-index Roll, Bouncing the Arm, Fingerpicking Patterns, Alternating Bass with Melody, Scarborough Fair Pattern, Bluegrass Banjo Technique, Chet Atkins Muffled Bass, Merle Travis Bass, Leo Kottke Bass, Easy Strumming Concept, Calypso, Rumba Slap, Golpe, Muted Chord, Ghost Notes, Jazz Picking Tech! nique, Flat-picking Technique, Bluegrass Backup, Bluegrass Backup Variations, Jazz Hybrid Pick-finger, Index-thumb Picking, Chicken Pickin', Samba Basic, Thumb Up & Down Stroke, Rasquado, Continuous Roll, Tremolo Variations, Back of Nail Koto, Feathering Strings, Frailing, Harmonics Overview, Stretching Technique, and you even get exercises to help your right hand stay relaxed.
