Rondor Music International Sign Strangefruit Songwriters To Global Publishing Deal
Rondor Music International has signed an exclusive worldwide songwriting and music publishing agreement with Jenny Maxwell and Jamie Perrett of the up-and-coming UK group Strangefruit.
Strangefruit has also released a new video for "Tell Me," which hit #10 on the ReverbNation Rock charts and was featured on Chris Hawkins’s BBC Radio 6 Music breakfast show. The DJ described "Tell Me" as "utterly lush" and "something of sheer beauty and full on passion."
Grammy-winning producer Greg Wells (Adele, Katy Perry), who worked with Strangefruit on the song at Abbey Road, called “Tell Me” “an excellent piece of songwriting.”
Rondor President Lance Freed explains why he signed Maxwell and Perrett to the publishing deal:
• “They represent a very alternative, unique perspective on life through their songwriting. They can explore the dark side of human nature without taking it too seriously (not unlike Jefferson Airplane from decades ago). As a band, they’re very good and will get better. Jenny’s vocals are haunting and amazing. All the positives are there…”
• "Rondor has traditionally signed songwriter/artists very early in their careers. Supertramp and Dire Straits are good examples of how far back that legacy and tradition at Rondor goes. We like to validate and encourage the artist’s confidence in themselves. We offer direction and support; we encourage writers to explore places they have never gone or dreamed of going, but never interfere with their core vision or identity."
• Re: Is Strangefruit’s music synchronization friendly?
"I believe they have the greatest opportunities with television because the spectrum is broad and the opportunities are bountiful. They have quality songs and the cream always rises to the top. So yes...it will happen."
Wells recorded and mixed Strangefruit as part of Avid’s 2013 promotion “A band with a dream.” For more info: http://apps.avid.com/campaigns/2013/inside-abbey-road/
