Dean Gillard has been appointed Vice President International Marketing and A&R for PM:AM Recordings, Universal Music's global dance music network. Based in London, Gillard reports to Kate Farmer, Senior Vice President International Marketing at Universal Music Group International.

Gillard is a senior A&R executive with over 20 years' experience working with internationally successful artists from around the world and has played a key role in launching Universal Music's PM:AM Recordings in 2011 alongside Farmer, Per Sundin, Universal Music's SVP Nordic Region and Universal Music Netherlands Managing Director Norbert Plantinga.

PM:AM Recordings brings together the best dance and electronic releases from Universal Music companies and labels around the world, including Positiva, Astralwerks, 4th and Broadway, Casablanca, Island Dance and many more, with a team of specialists who are experts in finding, developing and breaking dance hits. The PM:AM Recordings network has worked with artists, producers and DJs including Avicii, Afrojack, Eric Prydz, Sebastian Ingrosso, Klangkarusell, Fedde Le Grand, Alesso, Otto Knows, Duke Dumont, Nause, Rebecca & Fiona, Martin Garrix and TiŽsto whose recent hit 'Red Lights' was mixed and additionally produced by Gillard. To date PM:AM Recordings releases have sold over 20 million tracks and generated over 1.5 billion streams.

Andrew Kronfeld, Universal Music's President of Global Marketing said: "Over the past three years we have endeavoured to make PM:AM Recordings the best home for dance music artists both locally and globally. The success we have achieved in bringing this to fruition is due in no small part to the efforts of creative people like Dean. Placing him in this newly created position further cements our commitment to the dance music community, and our belief that Dean will be instrumental to our further growth in the future."

Farmer said: "Dean has been so closely involved in the launch and success of PM:AM Recordings over the last three years that I'm thrilled he's officially joining the team. With electronic music now one of the most international of genres we're all very excited about what we can achieve with PM:AM Recordings right around the world."

Gillard said: "Now felt like a good time for me to come back to Universal Music full time and focus on PM:AM Recordings. Working with Kate, Per and Norbert to launch this over the last few years has been fantastic and I'm looking forward to building and growing PM:AM Recordings even further."

A DJ since he was a teenager, Gillard joined the MCA Records club promotions department in the UK in 1992, working on hit records from artists including Mary J Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D & The Boyz and Bobby Brown, and during this time he was part of the team that A&R'd Livin' Joy and their evergreen dance classic 'Dreamer'. In 1995 he was appointed to a new international A&R role, overseeing projects for artists including Blackstreet, Rakim and Snoop Dogg while continuing his involvement, now in an A&R capacity, with Mary J Blige and Jodeci.

In 2002 Gillard set up his own production company with his creative partner Matt Ward and continued working for Universal Music in a consultancy role. Over the next few years Gillard and Ward expanded their remixing and additional production work for a host of global superstar artists including Rihanna, Usher, OutKast, Lionel Richie and Elton John whose 2009 release 'Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)' with Ironik was produced by Gillard and Ward and is Elton's most downloaded single to date. Their writing, mixing and production credits also include work for TiŽsto, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, T-Pain, Selena Gomez, Juanes, The Band Perry, Sugarland and Mutya Buena.
