Karikatura is a six piece band based in New York City pumping out lively, body-shaking music that blends gypsy, latin, hip-hop, indie rock, afrobeat, and reggae styles into one huge, organic sonic party. Based on strong rhythms and topped with socially conscious-lyrics, bright horns, and an abundance of joy, the band, which was born on the road -- conceived in South India and ultimately realized in NYC -- can sound at home anywhere in the world.

Infectious energy and originality earned them a nod as one of Brooklyn’s best emerging bands in VICE Magazine, and a devoted following in a city not known for its love of country. A unique familiarity percolates throughout their latest LP release, Debt’ll Get’em. Their reverence for traditional country forms combines with an irreverent rock and roll attitude to produce tight, punchy hooks and foot-stomping sing-alongs. With tunes that run the gamut from satirical to sentimental, their unique brand of country has made them pioneers in the Brooklyn country music scene.

Modern Bluegrass takes many shapes. Bennett Sullivan’s kind is a catchy, propulsive new-grass-jazz hybrid. His new CD Lady Nora has been widely praised and if he’s good enough for the iconic Sam Bush - Bennett opened for him in October at the City Winery - he’s way good enough for us. Catch a rising star with Bennett (banjo); Ross Martin (guitar); Rob Hecht (fiddle) and Pat Falco (bass).

Yotam is a Thelonius Monk Competition finalist with fresh, fiery ideas bursting with joyful exuberance, and the talent that few have to articulate them, in dazzling lines, breathtaking and rapturous, that begin where other guitarists would end. He's collaborated with such luminaries as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, Monty Alexander and Paquito D'Rivera. This versatile guitarist’s wheelhouse runs the sonic spectrum from the straight ahead to Brazilian, world music, blues and bebop.

Morrie Louden Quartet
It's not just the feat of his finger blurring solos or even the taming of the most unwieldy instrument, it's the simple thrill of his music, hurled from a virtuoso's fingertips.

Lynette Williams with Akie Bermiss
Behold a young star about to shine. Leave it to other young singers to shout it out under big bright lights. Lynette's voice unfurls with subtle, supple beauty, under softer ones. Akie Bermiss on vocals and keyboards adds a perfect counterpoint, making this an irresistible pair.
