For Immediate Release:

27 years and 1200 miles apart, Google Fiber and Jamlink technology helped Rock band Patriarch fulfill their lifelong dream to perform a reunion show in front of their hometown fans of Kansas City.

In 1987, Patriarch had two albums, thousands of die-hard fans, and hundreds of live shows throughout the Midwest to their credit, and major labels RCA and Atlantic Records both showed serious interest. But like so many local bands, the big break never happened. The band split up and went their separate ways, moving to other regions of the country to start careers and families.

Fast forward to 2014 where cutting-edge technology makes it possible to get the band back together. In January of this year, the band discovered a device called Jamlink, which allows musicians to plug in their electric instruments, connect over high-speed internet, and play with other musicians in real time. Because of the lag time of most video conferencing, regular conversation is challenging, let alone rehearsing complex five-part vocal harmonies and multi-instrument synchronization.

The members of Patriarch living in the Kansas City area contacted Google Fiber about their services, and almost immediately the band members were linked up from their homes in Kansas, Florida, and Georgia, rehearsing in real time. Google Fiber heard about the success of the online rehearsals and sponsored a reunion concert for the band at Kansas Cityís Uptown Theater, which brought in fans from across the country who didnít believe it could ever happen.

Google Fiber also produced a mini-documentary on the whole process, which garnered 100,000+ views in just 5 weeks, and continues to exceed numbers daily. This entire improbable story can now be seen in the Google Fiber documentary at http://youtu.be/BjlkDCXMRQk.
