Clown House Records, Making Music Free And Daring To Be Different

Ever since the invention of digital music, fans have had the ability to stream and download music from the internet, sometimes illegally meaning both artist and label suffer. The major labels have struggled to adapt to this face paced musical revolution. That is until now.

Clown House Records, an all-digital Yorkshire based label launched in 2013, believes differently and they’re going to prove it. By promoting paid membership, sponsorship and carefully placed advertisements, the label will generate an income to support itself and its artists with artists receiving royalties every time one of their tracks is downloaded.

The road to musical success for this record breaking label starts here. They’re looking for a talented web designer from the Leeds area to help them imprint their first digital footprint on the web and the world. Even though the record label has no money, they are offering would be web designers a piece of musical history in return for their time, by offering them shares in the record label.

Once their digital footprint goes live, the label intends to seek investment through CrowdCube allowing them to sign their first artist and work with them to produce their first musical masterpiece.

Clown House Records is the brain child of two Yorkshire entrepreneurs, Spencer Loney and Nicholas Smith, two music mad friends who were sick of record labels pumping out music for profit, rather than releasing actual records. Their love of music and their desire to put an artist’s music front and centre, where it belongs, rather than their profitability is recognised by the labels slogan “Where all that matters is the music”.
